Packers vs. Seahawks

Tomorrow is the Packers vs. Seahawks game.  We’re going to head down to Big Dog’s Brew House to watch the game.  Big Dog’s is a Wisconsin themed bar just a few miles from our place that does their own microbrews.

If the Packers are winning at half-time there will be harassment of folks in Seattle.

We won! Insert manaical laughter here.

King County trip

We’ll I got back from my 10 night trip to King County last Monday. I spent the first leg of the trip with our friends Pete and Candice and the second with our friends Brian and Erin. Both couples arranged a BBQ the Saturday I was at their place, so I got to catch up with a number of our other friends in the area as well. It was great seeing everyone and I hope I can make the trip up again next summer.

It was overcast most of the days, but there were several days that were quite nice. The last Sunday I was there the weather was perfect in the afternoon and Brian, Erin, and I went on a 2.5 hour hike in a state park near Duvall. We went on a shorter hike up Tolt Hill the day before as well.

Pete introduced me to the web based strategy game Travian and I got hooked the first Saturday I was there. Good thing I brought a laptop. Someone ganked my troops after I fell a sleep early on Monday night when I got back here, so I spent Tuesday building up my forces again and ganking the guy back (repeatedly) thus delaying this posting until Today.

Holy crap, another year!

Hi to friends and family!  Our mothers’ will be glad to know I actually remembered today was our 6th wedding anniversary around 3 in the afternoon today.  Unlike last year, when I didn’t remember until the 23rd and Josh didn’t at all.  Sentimental fools, the two of us!  We’ll be going down to the Strip tomorrow for lunch and a gift shop binge at the soon-to-be-closed Star Trek Experience.   So sad.  But sort of a special occasion outing, I suppose.

The saddest part of the Experience closing is how much my brother Windy will miss it.  With his plethora of Trek knowledge, that was a place where he could be king.  We’re all hoping it will possibly open up again somewhere else.  Until then, the Ramsdell-Heitzman Trek geeks will be waiting.  Oh yeah people, it’s not just me!  I married into the right family,  my inlaws David & Sharon are big nerds too.

My trip to Redmond was great, I got to reconnect with several friends and those of you I didn’t see (you know who you are!) will be seeing Josh starting the 26th and as always, our guest rooms are always available.  C’mon folks, it’s Vegas!

Just dropped Leah off at the airport. She’s heading back to King County, WA to visit with friends. Perhaps she’ll put up a blog post while she’s there.

Red Rock Canyon

On New Year’s Day Leah, Becky, and I took a trip to Red Rock Canyon just west of Vegas. We got there a little late in the day so we didn’t have a lot of time before we lost the light, but we did get a number of pictures taken. Here’s a few:

X-mas

We had merry Christmas dinner with our new friends Kelly and Shahla:

They used to live up in Woodinville and Kelly is an ex-Microsoftie as well. Shahla was a realtor but is taking a breather from that since the Vegas R.E. market is still in the process of tanking. They only moved to Vegas a couple of years ago themselves. When we got home I heard what sounded like a cat yeowling and went to the front door to see what who was making all of the noise and a skinny white cat tried to come in the house. While I like cats I figured that wasn’t a good idea, but since it was cold out I thought I’d bring the cat into the garage as it was getting below forty in the early morning. Shortly after opening the garage door I figured that wasn’t a good idea since the cat wouldn’t have anywhere to do its business, so I took one of our plastic crates and a bunch of moving blankets and rocks and made a kitty house then put out some water and tuna for the kitty. Kitty ate up half the tuna but wasn’t interested in the kitty house.

We then preceded to open presents and here’s couple of shots of the dogs with new toys:

We were up late watching the tube and about 2:30 am the cat was at the back patio door yeowling but the dogs eventually scared it off.

X-mas treat for doggies

The doorbell rang, lo and behold a box was there.

I brought it inside and was promptly tackled, by two huge dogs who smelled food and would kill me to get at it. I know it doesn’t rhyme, but Josh is rushing me. Thank you Kate, Jake, Pete and Candice!

All done.

Or so we thought. Tula wasn’t having it, danced around a bit and knocked over the container.

Look at that glare.

We’re softies. More treats for dogs.

One for Duncan.

And one for Tula.

By the way, Yikes! No more pictures of me when I’m sick! – (leah)

Duncan to the vet and friends from the airport

Today Leah dropped Duncan off at the animal hospital around nine to get knocked out so they could invasively examine his willy to try to determine the source of the infection. In the early afternoon we drove down through an accident induced parking lot on the freeway to pick up Chelsea and her friend Carol from the airport. After I dropped the ladies off at New York, New York, I tried heading home on city streets but it wasn’t any quicker. Just had time to grab a bite to eat before picking Duncan up at the vet. He was pretty out of it. Lost his back legs out from under him a couple of times after we got home, but a lot of water, dinner, and some sleep got him feeling better before I went down to pick up the ladies.
